SYDNEY CHOREOGRAPHIC CENTREThe mission of Sydney Choreographic Centre is to train, mentor and inspire a new generation of choreographers. Founded this year by artistic director Francesco Ventriglia, it is based on the venerated Italian Bottega system, in which a young artist studied with and worked alongside a master to learn their craft. In this time-honoured spirit of “learning by doing”, Sydney Choreographic Centre will offer tuition in every aspect of dance creation, delivered by a faculty comprising working artists who are leaders in their field.
Sydney Choreographic Centre also has a resident performing group, Sydney Choreographic Ensemble. Ensemble members will work with program participants in addition to their own performance schedule. In April, Sydney Choreographic Ensemble premieres GRIMM, a new work by Ventriglia. Ventriglia is an internationally recognised choreographer who brings to Sydney Choreographic Centre decades of experience and unparalleled contacts with important dance figures around the world. Sydney Choreographic Centre opens its doors in March 2021 with several short programs for emerging choreographers. |
SYDNEY CHOREOGRAPHIC ENSEMBLE
Sydney Choreographic Ensemble is the resident performing group of the Centre. It makes its debut with the world premiere of GRIMM, a new work by artistic director and principal choreographer Francesco Ventriglia, at Riverside Theatres Parramatta in April 2021.
With outstanding careers, both established and emerging, our beautiful, passionate artists come together to make this ensemble unique. |
